Marksmanship VR Training System

AVRT Marksmanship

Train Precision Shooting and Judgement-Based Decision-Making in a Fully Configurable Virtual Range

Live-fire marksmanship training is expensive, range time is limited, and every round fired is a round that has to be accounted for, transported and stored. For many units, the biggest constraint on marksmanship practice isn’t skill. It’s access to a range.

AVRT’s Marksmanship VR Training system removes that constraint. Personnel train on a fully configurable multi-user range, indoor or outdoor, close-quarters or long distance, using real-feel weapons with gas-blowback recoil, without live or training ammunition.

Every shot is tracked, timed and scored, giving instructors and trainees a level of feedback that live ranges rarely match.

Configurable Live-Fire Range

AVRT supports a multi-user 100m indoor range and a 300m outdoor range, with targets configurable from 3m out to 300m.

Instructors can adjust exposure times, target delays and other scenario variables to build progressive, repeatable training plans rather than a single static drill.

AVRT Marksmanship capabilities include:

  • Multi-user 100m indoor and 300m outdoor ranges
  • Configurable target distances from 3m to 300m
  • Adjustable exposure times and target delays
  • 360° judgement target shooting range
  • Shot grouping, accuracy and timing metrics
  • Pre-shot, shot-fall and post-shot laser tracing
  • Advanced weapon attitude and status metrics
  • Real-feel weapons with gas-blowback recoil

360° Judgement Range for Decision-Making Under Pressure

Marksmanship isn’t only about grouping shots on a static target. AVRT’s 360° judgement target shooting range trains the decision-making that sits behind the trigger pull.

Personnel are exposed to threats from any direction, building the situational awareness and target discrimination skills needed for VR familiarisation and drills that a flat range can’t replicate.

Full Anatomy of Every Shot

AVRT captures the complete anatomy of each shot, not just where it landed.

Shot data includes:

  • Pre-shot laser tracing
  • Shot-fall and impact analysis
  • Post-shot follow-through tracing
  • Shot grouping and accuracy metrics
  • Timing and reaction data
  • Weapon attitude at the moment of fire
  • Weapon status throughout the drill
  • Full session recording for review

This lets instructors diagnose exactly what happened on a missed shot, not just that it missed.

Train with Real-Feel Weapons

AVRT uses real-feel firearm weapons with gas-blowback recoil, so personnel train with the same weight, handling and recoil characteristics as their issued weapons.

Weapon use is intuitive, gives haptic feedback to the user, and can be holstered into existing tactical equipment, meaning marksmanship training integrates directly into wider scenario-based exercises rather than sitting apart from them.

Why Use VR for Marksmanship Training?

Live ranges are constrained by ammunition cost, range availability and weather. Virtual reality removes those constraints without removing the realism.

Training with AVRT allows organisations to:

  • Increase repetitions without increasing ammunition spend
  • Train regardless of range availability or weather
  • Standardise drills and scenarios across units
  • Capture objective, repeatable performance data
  • Progress trainees from static grouping to judgement-based scenarios in the same system

Applications for Marksmanship Training

AVRT Marksmanship training can support a wide range of operational requirements, including:

  • Military marksmanship qualification and refresher training
  • Law enforcement firearms training
  • Judgement and use-of-force decision training
  • Close-quarters battle (CQB) preparation
  • Long-range engagement practice
  • New recruit familiarisation

Frequently Asked Questions

AVRT supports a 100m indoor range and a 300m outdoor range, with targets configurable from 3m to 300m.

Yes. AVRT captures shot grouping, accuracy, timing and weapon attitude, with pre-shot, shot-fall and post-shot laser tracing for full after-action review.

Yes. AVRT’s marksmanship range supports multi-user training alongside its wider scenario-based exercises.
