The National Decision Model sits at the centre of how UK police officers are trained to make decisions under pressure. Training against it consistently, at scale, and with objective feedback is difficult to do with live role-play alone.
Following intensive development and feedback from around 90% of UK police forces, the AVRT platform for National Decision Model scenario, judgement, less-lethal and firearms training simulations is available now.
While the NDM is the framework most familiar to UK forces, AVRT’s scenarios are not built around it exclusively. The same underlying judgement and decision-making training can be configured to reflect other models used internationally, including the OODA Loop, SARA and SEARCH.
AVRT scenarios are built to reflect the decision-making structure officers are trained and assessed against, not generic use-of-force drills bolted on afterwards.
Officers rehearse the same threat assessment, proportionality and escalation judgements the National Decision Model requires, in a repeatable virtual environment rather than a one-off live exercise.
