No two training requirements are the same. Some exercises need the unpredictability and nuance of a real person driving the interaction. Others need a consistent, repeatable tactical threat that behaves the same way every time. Most training programmes need both, at different points in the same session.

AVRT doesn’t force a choice between the two. Scenarios can be run entirely by a live instructor, driven entirely by AI, or built as a hybrid that uses both control methods within the same exercise.

Three Ways to Run a Scenario

Live, instructor-controlled role-play. An instructor voices and manages the actions of multiple VR characters in real time, delivering a fully immersive and interactive experience in a genuinely human way. This suits judgement, negotiation and de-escalation training, where a trainee needs to respond to a real person’s tone, pacing and decisions rather than a fixed script.
AI-driven scenario actors. Characters and threats can also be run by tactical AI, with adaptive waypoint and cover behaviour, so the same drill can be repeated consistently for marksmanship, CQB or threat-response training without an instructor needing to manage every actor by hand.
Hybrid scenarios. Live and AI-driven control methods can be combined within a single exercise, an instructor can step in to role-play a key moment while AI drives the surrounding threat, or run a large-scale scenario where some actors are instructor-led and others are not.
