22, October 2026 – We are delighted to share that Virtuix has selected AVRT to provide weapons tracking and content development for the U.S. Marine Corps Infantry Fireteam Virtual Trainer (IFVT). Read the Virtuix announcement.
Virtuix is the lead integrator on the programme, working with its strategic partner KBR. The Marine Corps is assessing the system operationally, with delivery to Quantico, Virginia expected in Q4 2026. If the assessment goes well, the system could be extended to Marine Corps training centres more widely.
What is the Infantry Fireteam Virtual Trainer?
The IFVT is a multi-user trainer built for a four-Marine fireteam. Instead of using joysticks or being limited to small roomscale areas, Marines move through combat scenarios on Virtuix’s Omni One locomotion platform, using tracked M4 rifle surrogates and VR headsets. Instructors can monitor exercises in real time and review them afterwards.
The system supports a wide range of infantry training, including close-quarters battle, patrol, threat identification, decision-making under stress and mission rehearsal.
What AVRT is providing
AVRT’s tracked weapon system and instructor tools are being integrated with the Omni One platform, alongside content development for the programme. That means Marines train with a weapon that is tracked in the virtual world and responds to how they actually handle it, while instructors have the tools to control, adapt and review each exercise.
It’s a real vote of confidence to be selected by Virtuix for this programme. Their locomotion platform and our tracked weapons and instructor tools are a natural fit, and we’re looking forward to seeing Marines put the system to work.

Why this matters for infantry training
Several of the things that matter most in simulation training come together in this programme. Learn more here
Natural actions and movements. Training is only as good as how closely it matches the real thing. Combining natural locomotion with tracked weapons lets Marines move, aim and work as a team in ways that feel close to how they will on the ground, without the abstraction of joysticks or teleporting between positions.
Train as you fight, without the risk. Fireteams can rehearse close-quarters battle, patrols and high-pressure decisions repeatedly in a virtual environment, with none of the risks that come with live training.
Adaptive, controllable scenarios. Instructors are in control of what the fireteam faces, and can adjust scenarios to challenge Marines as their skills develop.
After action review. Every exercise can be reviewed afterwards, so instructors and Marines can see what happened, what decisions were made and what to do differently next time.
More training capability, at lower cost. Virtual training reduces the cost and logistics of live exercises, so units can get more repetitions in without the setup and expense that live training demands.
Train anywhere, anytime. A virtual system is not tied to range availability, weather or daylight, which makes it easier to fit regular training into a busy schedule.
