10, September 2026 – The Government recently confirmed it will run a major exercise in 2027 to test the UK’s resilience for war, including whether it can recall, equip and mobilise Britain’s “strategic reserve”, a pool of around 95,000 retired regular and reserve personnel. Armed Forces Minister Louise Sandher-Jones told the House of Lords National Resilience Committee the exercise would challenge the Ministry of Defence on a scale not seen for years, following a warning from the Chief of the Defence Staff earlier this year that there was no effective system for engaging former personnel.
Cases like this are where simulation using the AVRT system really comes into its own.
